It is not every day that an NBA legend wants to invest in your passion, so when basketball superstar, Ben Wallace, decided he wanted to join his friends, Steve Jbara and Scott Benton at Green Door Distilling, they were more than a little excited about the endless possibilities. In a recent interview, Jbara stated, “I’m so thrilled to be working with Ben on this project, his competitive history and hard work ethic will no doubt help us grow Green Door into a Michigan craft leader." Benton mirrored his partner’s enthusiasm, saying, “Ben, Steve, and I have worked on a number of companies together and the three of us have found great balance and success in those endeavors. I look forward to putting Green Door on the map in the state of Michigan." Wallace, himself, is equally elated about his newest venture. During a recent interview discussing the plans he has with the Kalamazoo distillery, Wallace commented, “Steve, Scott, and I have been friends ever since we partnered together on the Grand Rapids Drive (now Grand Rapids Gold). They are building something special with Green Door Distillery. I am also looking forward to being involved in the ongoing revitalization of Kalamazoo and bringing some attention to the work people are doing.” Plans are being teased about a Ben Wallace-themed Green Door product and fans are already queuing up to see what this partnership has in store.
